WAGECC’s
Boards and Committees

There are three Boards and Committees that are
part of WAGECC’s “feedback network”
and provide WAGECC with programmatic expertise
from academic and community-based settings throughout
the region.
The Interdisciplinary Education
Steering Committee (IESC) is composed of
interdisciplinary academic faculty who are experts
in geriatrics and gerontology and teach for WAGECC.
The IESC makes recommendations about: curricula
content for WAGECC programs, resources for the
Resource Center, Web site offerings, and other
content-based activities.
The Community Advisory
Board (CAB), comprised of leaders in the
community, provides WAGECC with information about
community needs in geriatrics and gerontology
from an organizational and leadership perspective.
For example, WAGECC developed its Traveling In-service
Education Seminars (TIES) program based on feedback
from the CAB.
The Collaborative Community
Aging Network (CCAN) has as its members
an interdisciplinary group of individuals who
represent as many settings and disciplines in
geriatrics and gerontology as possible. Since
WAGECC was initiated in 1994, the CCAN has provided
us with exceptional feedback on community needs
and expectations. The CCAN also ensures that WAGECC
doesn’t “reinvent the wheel”
in the educational arena; collaborates with partners
with a like mission; and is as inclusive as possible
with planning and networking.
Some individuals are members of more than one
committee/board depending upon the types of contributions
they wish to make. Since it is difficult to arrange
meetings with large bodies of professionals for
the sole purpose of feedback, WAGECC has provided
its network members opportunities to provide information
in conference calls, emails, and personal one-on-one
sessions.
